Ahmedabad: The city recorded a major single-day drop in minimum temperature on Thursday, with mercury dipping from 21.5 degrees celsius on Wednesday to 14.7 degrees on Thursday, 2.8 degrees below normal. Since Feb, Thursday’s was the fourth lowest minimum temperature in the city. The drop is due to northerly to northeasterly winds prevailing over the region, Met officials said.
At 34.6 degrees, the maximum temperature was 0.8 degrees above or near normal, the Met office said. From Friday onwards, a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures is expected. In Ahmedabad, temperatures could be around 36 degrees and 16 degrees, respectively. ‘Gradual rise by 3-5 degrees celsius in minimum and maximum temperatures during the next five days is very likely over the region,’ the weather forecast said.
On March 9 and 10, hot and humid conditions in coastal areas are likely. At 11.5 degrees, Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature, whereas Bhuj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.7 degrees.
