Jodhpur vendors allege assault | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: A 22-year-old woman vegetable vendor, who is on a fast with around 200 others operating in the Jodhpur area, seeking a fair marketplace for them, fell ill on Sunday.
The vendors allege that they were displaced from their location and the market proposed by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) did not yield any good response for them.
The woman whose condition deteriorated on Sunday was identified as Shital Solanki, 22, a resident of Jodhpur. She was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital.
The vendors alleged that a team from AMC evicted them when they were selling vegetables in Jodhpur and also damaged their wares and vegetables.
“When we called the city police control room, we were told to go to Anandnagar police station and register the complaint. The cops did not take our complaint of assault against the AMC team,” alleges Rakesh Maheria, who is leading the agitation under the banner of Lari Galla Patharna Sangh.
