Rajkot: An international kite festival will be held at the Dharmendrasinhji Arts College ground on Sunday, jointly organized by Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited. It is part of the statewide kite festival celebrated every year.
According to a statement from the RMC, international kite flyers from Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Poland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US will take part in the festival. Indian kite flyers from states such as Punjab and Rajasthan will also participate.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was chief minister of Gujarat, started the tradition of organizing kite festivals in various cities to promote tourism in Gujarat. The tradition continued and as part of it this festival is scheduled for Sunday in Rajkot,” a statement from the RMC said.
