Christopher Nolan is currently busy shooting his next film, The Odyssey, in Italy. New pictures from the set emerged on social media, which confirmed that Zendaya has also started the shoot. But it was another Hollywood star, whose new look for the adaptation caught the attention of many. It was actor Matt Damon, who looked unrecognizable as he was spotted with an unkempt beard, waiting for his shot. Matt Damon in disheveled look
In the new pictures, which have now caught the attention of many fans on X (formerly Twitter), Matt Damon was seen wearing only a pair of baggy pants, showing off his toned physique with a dishevelled look. He sported an unkempt white beard while his hair was cut short. In one of the pictures, he is seen interacting with Nolan before the scene is shot.
In another picture, Zendaya is seen sitting beside him on the beach as the camera operators and the rest of the crew members work on the shot’s framing.
Matt has undergone this physical transformation to play the character of Odysseus in Nolan’s film. Although the makers have not confirmed which character Zendaya will be essaying in The Odyssey, these behind the scenes picture seem to refer that she might be playing Calypso.
One of the most iconic works of Western literature, Homer’s Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home following the Trojan War. Along the way, Odysseus encounters divine forces, mythical creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, and the seductive Sirens.
Nolan’s film features a ensemble cast that also includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Samantha Morton and Elliot Page. The Odyssey is scheduled for release next year on July 17.
