Ahmedabad: An upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan persists, and the system may stall the monsoon for some more days, said experts. The northern limit of the southwest monsoon remained at Mumbai, Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra, and Puri in Odisha on Friday.On Friday, only Bardoli near Surat received 1mm of rainfall. The weather remained cloudy or clear across the state. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C, which was 2.9 degrees lower than normal. The minimum temperature at 28.5°C was close to normal. Relative humidity (RH) was 75% at 8.30am, whereas it was 44% at 5.30pm.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicated that there will be no major change in maximum temperatures in the next seven days. Experts said that while there could be sporadic rainfall across the state, the onset of the monsoon may take some time. “After the rapid advance of the monsoon from Kerala to Mumbai, the monsoon trough has remained in the same zone. It may take some days for the monsoon to advance,” added experts.The maximum temperature reached 42.1°C in Rajkot, followed by 41.8°C in Surendranagar, 41.1°C in Kandla, and 40°C in Bhavnagar, among others.
