Ahmedabad: A resident of the Krishnanagar area of the city has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly raping his neighbour’s eight-year-0ld daughter. The complaint was registered on Sunday night and the accused has been absconding since.
According to the complaint, the girl told her family that the man offered her biscuits and began touching her private parts. Inspector A R Dhavan said, “We have formed several teams and are on a lookout for the accused. His mobile is also under surveillance.”
Police said that the alleged offence took place on Sunday evening, when the minor girl was playing near her house. The accused lured the girl with biscuits. “When the girl began shouting after the accused forced himself on her, he ran away. She informed her parents about the incident. They then registered a police complaint against the neighbour,” a police official said.
Sources said the whereabouts of the man have been traced and he will be arrested soon. Police said the accused and the victim’s family worked as daily wage labourers in the same area.
