Ahmedabad: The international terminal at Ahmedabad airport introduced a new system to address concerns about lengthy queues and delays in baggage screening upon arrival. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport launched a customs screening room at Terminal 2, promising improved efficiency for travellers.
The facility features sophisticated X-ray machines that operate nearly five times faster than the previous ones. This enhancement allows for quicker baggage collection while improving customs processing efficiency.
“The new system integrates a CCTV monitoring system to oversee the screening process and introduces a dedicated line to manage rejected bags without causing delays. This modification prevents the need for customs personnel to halt the conveyor when rejecting bags, ensuring a smoother flow of baggage and reducing congestion,” the airport authorities said in a statement.
The upgraded baggage handling system ensures reduced processing time and minimal delays for passengers, especially during busy travel seasons.
