Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board on Wednesday announced that the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam has been postponed from Feb 16 to Feb 22. The change is due to the model code of conduct for the civic and byelections. The board said that 2.34 lakh Class 8 students have registered for the exam, which offers a scholarship to complete education until Class 12. The minimum qualifying percentage for NMMS is 40%.
NMMS is a Union govt programme designed to provide financial support to Class 8 students from financially weak backgrounds in grant-in-aid or govt schools. Selected students receive Rs 12,000 per year. The approved quota for NMMS in Gujarat is 5,097 students.TNN
