Ahmedabad: A 42-year-old labour contractor residing in the Rajivnagar locality of Satellite filed a complaint with the Satellite Police on Saturday against his father, elder brother, and other family members. He alleged physical assault and threats following a dispute over parking space.
According to the complainant, the issue started escalating from Dec 14 last year when he returned home and parked his car outside his house. His elder brother and neighbour, whose house was undergoing renovation, objected to this as construction materials were placed there. A verbal altercation ensued, during which his daughter intervened. However, his other brother and nephew allegedly insulted her for marrying outside their community. Deeply distressed, his daughter later attempted suicide by ingesting phenyl and was hospitalised. She later filed a complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Satellite police station.
That evening, the complainant’s father allegedly damaged his house’s windows, doors, and CCTV cameras, claiming ownership of the property and threatening to evict him. A further altercation occurred on Dec 16, when his father, brother, and others allegedly attacked him with metal pipes, causing head injuries and damaging his gold chain. The complainant called emergency services and was taken to Sola Civil Hospital. Initially treated and discharged, he later experienced hearing loss in his right ear and was re-admitted on Dec 18, undergoing treatment until Dec 25.
He formally filed a complaint, alleging continued threats from his father to vacate the house.
