Amid recent reports that Moscow may be open to hearing US President-elect Donald Trump’s plans for ending the Ukraine conflict, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister has suggested that the Republican should get the Nobel Peace Prize if he succeeds in achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine.
On Saturday (Nov 9), taking to X, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, suggested Trump “should receive the Nobel Peace Prize if he succeeds in ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.”
Salvini remarked that such a resolution would not only save lives but also offer a more stable future than what he believes the Democrats left behind.
President @realDonaldTrump should receive the Nobel Peace Prize if he succeeds in ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In addition to saving lives, this resolution would leave us with a calmer future compared to what the Democrats have left us so far.

Trump-Putin talks imminent?
Since Trump’s election, Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly praised “courageous” Trump for the way he handled himself after an assassination attempt at a rally in July.
“He turned out to be a courageous person,” Putin said.
“People show who they are in extraordinary circumstances. This is where a person reveals himself. And he showed himself, in my opinion in a very correct manner, courageously. Like a man,” he added while speaking at the Valdai Forum in the southern city of Sochi.
Expressing his readiness for discussions with the president-elect, Putin congratulated Trump on his victory and said he was “ready” to hold talks with him. These talks, if they happen, will mark a notable shift from the strained US-Russia relations under President Joe Biden.
Trump, who has been vocal about his willingness to reassess US support for Kyiv, echoed Putin’s sentiment in a recent NBC interview, noting he expects to speak with Putin soon. “I think we’ll speak,” he said.
