Vadnagar: PM Narendra Modi, as a child, studied at the Vernacular School in his hometown of Vadnagar. As a homage to his journey, the old school, established in 1888, was renovated and a new complex was constructed on an adjoining site, forming the Prerna Centre for children.
Experts said that the entire complex is designed for the tech-savvy generation, where history meets AI and leadership lessons meet heritage.

“The leadership course comprises nine subjects, and the curriculum is designed by experts from IIT Gandhinagar. Each batch will stay at the centre for a week and also learn about Vadnagar and PM Modi’s journey,” said an official.
At the cost of Rs 72 crore, the project took shape, with 36 groups already completing their courses, added officials. “The facility also trains teachers in novel pedagogical methods to create the leaders of the future,” added the official.
The weekly cohort comprises 20 students. The selection process is designed in a way that nine districts from across the country are selected weekly to send two meritorious students. Two students will be from any district of Gujarat. The selection process will ensure that all regions of the country are covered and the children will get to interact with those from other states and learn about their customs and cultures, added officials.
