Ahmedabad: The opposition in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) came down heavily on the ruling BJP following the recently busted recruitment scam. Monday’s general meeting was marked by protests from corporators who demanded an investigation into the appointments made over the past five years to rule out any malpractice.
Regarding the recent recruitment scam, opposition leader in AMC, Shehzad Khan Pathan, said that marks of three candidates had been altered to accommodate them in the final selection list of 93 technical supervisors.
These included two women who had failed the test. He said that while head clerk Pulkit Sathwara, who was serving in the central office, was suspended for altering the marks, this may not have been an isolated case since he had been serving in the central office for five years.
During this period, 37 recruitment initiatives were held, and 1,975 employees were appointed to various positions. He demanded a probe into these recruitments as well.TNN
