Ahmedabad: A 31-year-old man from the Old Darbargadh area in Rajkot city died when a speeding car hit him on the Bagodara-Limbdi Road as he was crossing the road on Saturday.
Ravi Parekh, a friend of the deceased Yashdeep Parekh, stated in the FIR with Bagodara police that he, along with nearly 40 others, was on a pilgrimage from Rajkot to Ahmedabad. They started their journey on Jan 7 and reached Bagodara on Saturday. Ravi mentioned in the FIR that Yashdeep told him he wanted to attend to nature’s call, for which he went to cross the road.
While crossing the road, a car hit him. He received severe injuries. The other members of the pilgrimage called an ambulance, and he was rushed to the community health centre in Bagodara, where he was declared brought dead.
Bagodara police registered a complaint of causing death by negligence and rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with charges under the Motor Vehicle Act against the unknown car driver.
