Tension gripped Naroda on Tuesday evening, as two groups went on rampage in the area and pelted stones at each other following an altercation over kite flying.
Naroda police said the rioting was triggered by a minor altercation, and some of those named have been arrested. A R Dhavan, inspector in charge of Naroda, said that around 30 people and an unidentified group have been named in the FIR. “The altercation over kite flying led to the rioting. Cops have so far arrested a couple of those involved in the rioting, and soon some more will be arrested.” Police said that at around 5pm, they received information about two groups involved in heavy stone-pelting. A team, including senior officials, rushed to the scene and made a heavy deployment in the area to prevent further incidents. tnn
