Ahmedabad: A tragic case of domestic violence unfolded in Godhavi area of Sanand when a 35-year-old security guard allegedly strangled his wife before taking his own life, driven by suspicions of infidelity.
The incident came to light on Tuesday, when the man’s father, Sukhvir Singh Rajput, found his daughter-in-law lifeless on the bed and his son hanging from a ceiling fan in an adjacent room. The couple’s three-year-old son was present in the house at the time.
According to the FIR filed by Sukhvir Singh with Bopal police, Vikram Singh Rajput, a security guard at a sports complex in Shela, had a history of aggression. He would suspect his wife, Gauri, of having affairs and frequently fight with her. The couple lived in a service room within the complex, while Vikram’s father and nephew, who initially stayed nearby, had recently moved out due to his violent behaviour.
On the morning of March 25, Sukhvir Singh visited Vikram’s house to check on his grandson. Upon entering, he discovered Gauri lying motionless with blood on her face, while Vikram was found hanging in the next room. In shock, he alerted the police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Vikram strangled his wife before ending his own life. Post-mortem findings support this theory, and statements from fellow security guards suggest that domestic violence was a recurring issue in their marriage.
Bopal police have registered a case of murder and are probing further details surrounding the crime.
