Ahmedabad: Union home minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for police quarters in Ghatlodia on Tuesday. The groundbreaking ceremony of the biggest police housing scheme in Gujarat, spread across 23,697 sq m area, will be held on Uttarayan, said a statement from the Gujarat police.
The project includes 18 towers with 13 floors, accommodating 920 families in 2 BHK flats with a carpet area of 55 sq m. Designed with modern amenities, the complex will feature two basements and a ground floor for parking 930 vehicles. Additionally, 10 shops will be built, catering to daily necessities like groceries, vegetables, milk and salon services, it said.
Ghatlodia police station will be constructed within the complex on a 11,500 sq m area. It will include parking, evidence rooms, chambers for officers and modern facilities such as fire safety systems and lifts. The Rs 242 crore project will provide top-notch living facilities for families of police officials, the official statement said. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel and state home minister Harsh Sanghavi will attend the event. The project is likely to be completed in 27 months, it added. tnn
