Ahmedabad: Two men armed with swords terrorized residents of a society near the Billeshwar Temple area in Satellite, prompting Anandnagar police to register a case of unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation. The incident, which unfolded over two days, involved threats, abuse, and property damage, leaving the society in a state of fear.
According to the complaint filed by a 24-year-old resident, the trouble began on Uttarayan day when he asked a friend to retrieve his bike. The friend sent someone else instead, sparking confusion. Later that day, another friend demanded the return of Rs 10,000, leading to a heated argument. The complainant stated he returned the money at a meeting near Prernatirth Derasar but left abruptly after being pushed by one of the individuals to avoid further escalation.
Tensions flared when the complainant’s mother called him on Thursday night, warning that a group of his so-called friends, armed with swords and other weapons, had stormed the society searching for him. The group, allegedly consisting of eight members, resorted to vandalism, damaging parked vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, while hurling abuses and issuing death threats.
Fearing for his safety, the complainant sought refuge at his uncle’s house. The next day, he learned of the damage and the continued threats, prompting him to file a police complaint against two of his former friends and their accomplices. Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the BNS regarding unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation, and mischief.
