The dilapidated fire station building was recently visited by senior fire officials to get a picture of how deplorable its condition is.
Surat: Wooden bamboos have been placed in front of the fire station to protect people in Mora Bhagal area of Surat city. The building of Surat Municipal Corporation’s fire department, which is giving notice to dilapidated buildings across the city, is seen to be dilapidated, along with the office of the firemen on the ground, there are expensive vehicles and fire equipment in the building.
Employees of Mora Bhagal Fire Department have been forced to work in a dilapidated fire station and risk their lives to sit on duty in a dilapidated building. Earthquake or heavy rainfall is expected by Surat Municipal Corporation. After which it seems that, action will be taken if the fire building collapses.
On one side, Mora Bhagal fire station is waiting for construction, on the other hand, the work of fire station under construction at Jahangirpura ISKCON temple is going on at a slow pace, the employees of the fire department are still unaware of how long they will serve in this dilapidated fire station. However, the dilapidated fire station building was recently visited by senior fire officials to get a picture of how deplorable its condition is.
If the information of the municipality are to be believed, for the last four months they have been working to extinguish the fire here at the risk of their lives. Hidden resentment is now being seen among the employees and officials. But on the other hand, the work of the new fire station at Jahangirpura has also slowed down due to the monsoon season.
As monsoon approaches, the municipality issues notices keeping in mind the safety and security of the lives and property of citizens living in dilapidated buildings. Instead of protecting people’s lives and property, the fire department personnel themselves have been forced to perform duty in dilapidated buildings.
