A cabinet meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in which 5 cities of the state were declared as municipal corporations.
Gujarat: Gujarat government has made an important announcement. Bhupendra Patel’s government has announced to make 5 small cities of Gujarat into municipal corporations. So far there are 8 Municipal Corporations in Gujarat, 5 more will be added. So along with this, a total of 16 Municipal Corporations will be formed in Gujarat.
Navsari, Gandhidham, Surendranagar, Vapi and Morbi are included in the newly created 5 Manpa. These cities will be upgraded soon. Such news came out, but no such announcement has been made by the government. It has been clarified by the government that this news is a rumour.
These five cities are currently municipalities. New facilities will be added to it as soon as it is announced by the municipality. These five cities will now get facilities like Ahmedabad and Surat. So far there are 8 Municipalities, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Junagadh. In which another 5 will be added now.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave in-principle approval to the Rajkot Municipal Corporation for ₹24.32 crore worth of infrastructural works in outgrowth areas under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme.
It is to be mentioned that, the Chief Minister has sanctioned 594 public utility works worth a total of ₹ 674 crore so far in the name of increasing the ‘ease of living’ of the citizens living in the outgrowth areas of 8 Municipal Corporations and 12 Municipal Corporations of the state.
Government Clarification on Report
In the end, Secretary, Urban Development Department, explaining this, said that no such announcement has been made by the government. This news is a rumour.
