Surat : The new building of Surat District Panchayat will be inaugurated today by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. A new building of district Panchayat has been constructed at Vesu in Surat city at a cost of 47.40 crores. The newly constructed new building of Surat District Panchayat at Vesu on Dumas Road at a cost of crores will be inaugurated today at 3.30 pm, after which Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel will attend the ceremony organized at the Convention Center at Sarasana at 4 pm, the inauguration ceremony will also be attended by other dignitaries. Since 1963, Surat District Panchayat Office has been functioning at Dariya Mahal. The population of Surat city has also increased. With the development of the city, there has been an increase in various branches including new officers as well as office bearers. Therefore, due to the increasing population and the decrease in the space of the district panchayat office, a new office has been constructed due to the problems faced by the people coming to the office.
It is to be noted that, in the year 2008 Surat District Panchayat was bifurcated and Tapi District came into existence. However, due to the increase in population, the main problem was the inconvenience of picking, when the Panchayat Village Housing Department of the state spent Rs. 29.40 crore was allocated. While the allocation of 18 crores from Surat District Panchayat’s own funds, a total of Rs. 47.40 crores, this new building has been realized. This building will increase the facilities of office bearers, employees and applicants who come for their own work.
The new building has an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and a plinth area of 1627.69 square meters with a total construction area of 9766.14 square meters, and a total of 6 floors building has been made with ground floor and five floors. Two basement floors below the ground have been kept for vehicle parking with a total parking capacity of more than 200 four wheelers and more than 500 two wheelers so that vehicle parking will not be a problem. Even after the construction of this building, an open area of 8400 sq.m. has been kept available depending on the future requirement of further construction. A folded screen will be created for the applicants coming to the Surat District Panchayat to get the scheme information and all the offices of the District Panchayat will come under one umbrella so that the operations will be very easy.
