Surat : In Surat, the operation of removing slabs was going on in the Surat Diamond Association-run girls’ school located in Dharuka campus. However, three workers were buried under the rubble as the slab suddenly collapsed. Following the incident, local people came running and the fire brigade team reached. The fire brigade personnel carried out the rescue and pulled out the four from the debris. However, two workers died before reaching the hospital. While one is seriously injured. In the hospital, the families of the deceased were mourning.
A serious incident of slab collapse has come to know from Kapodra area of Surat. Diamond Girls School run by Diamond Association is located within the Dharuka College campus in Kapodra. The work of removing the slab of the gate of this school was going on. Meanwhile, this morning, the slab of the roof of the gate suddenly collapsed. At that time, three workers who were working there were seriously injured, when the slab of the gate fell on them. Three were seriously injured in the incident and were shifted to Smeemer Hospital for immediate treatment, where two workers were declared dead during treatment.
Moreover, former President of Surat Diamond Association said that, due to the two-day holiday at the Diamond School on Varachha Road, the contractor was given the contract to lay the roof.
