Former US president Donald Trump on Saturday (Sep 28) launched a scathing attack on his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, by calling her “mentally impaired” and a “disaster”.
Trump was addressing a crowd in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin where he touched upon the issue of immigration after Harris discussed the issue a day earlier. The Republican leader blamed Harris for the current border situation where illegals were indiscriminately entering the US.
“Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way. She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country. Anybody would know this,” said Trump.
“I can’t even believe she’s being considered. She was considered, eight weeks ago, the worst vice president in history. A very dumb person. The fake news was calling her ‘dumb’, ‘stupid’, ‘didn’t have a chance’.”
This is not the first instance when Trump has launched ad hominem attacks on Harris. In July, he questioned Harris’s racial identity during a panel with the National Association of Black Journalists.

Harris arrives at US-Mexico border
Harris visited the US-Mexico border for the first time on Friday (Sep 27) since becoming the Democratic presidential candidate.
“The United States is a sovereign nation, and I believe we have a duty to set rules at our border and to enforce them. And I take that responsibility very seriously,” Harris said after touring a section of the border wall in Cochise County.
“I will do more to secure our border, to reduce illegal border crossings. I will take further action to keep the border closed between ports of entry,” she added.
However, her visit did not go down well with the union repping US Border agents who claimed that the presidential hopeful “ignored the border problem she created”.
“Vice President Harris has ignored the border problem she created for over three years. She goes down there for 20 minutes for a photo op and decides to repeat some of the things the NPBC has said before. But again, where has she been the last 3 1/2 years?” the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“VP Harris asserted in Arizona that CBP needed more resources. We have apprehended over 8 million illegal immigrants over the last 4 years and now you realize we need more help 38 days before the election.”
