AHMEDABAD: At least two cops and a private driver from Ramol police station died, while one Police Sub Inspector was injured when they were on the way to Haryana. The cops were going for an investigation of a POCSO case.
Senior cops said that the incident occurred when a govt vehicle carrying the police team collided with the rear of a truck on the Bharatmala Highway near a petrol pump by Sakta Khera village in Haryana.
The deceased were identified as Police Constable Sunil Gamit, Home Guard Ravindra, and the vehicle’s private driver, Kanu Bhai Bharwad.
PSI J.P. Solanki, who was also in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital. Senior officials said that he is in shock and is not able to recall who was with him in the car.
The police team was on its way to Ludhiana, Punjab, to investigate a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) case when the accident took place.
Soon after the incident, senior police officials, including the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), rushed to Haryana to assess the situation and provide necessary support.
