Ahmedabad: The impact of US tariffs on Indian businesses and the “ineffective” policies of the Union govt over neighbouring China and Bangladesh were discussed at the extended CWC meeting held in Ahmedabad, said deputy leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at the Sardar Patel National Memorial, the venue of the CWC, Gogoi said, “Why is the PM silent on the US tariffs which are adversely impacting our businesses, especially our small and medium businesses? On the foreign policy front, India was not able to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh, and the country failed to get any positive results in its dealings with China.”
He added that despite a drop in crude prices, the benefit of a reduction in petrol and diesel prices was not transferred to citizens, and to make matters worse, the price of an LPG cylinder was hiked by Rs 50.
Pilot, meanwhile, said, “The intention of the Congress president and the leader of opposition is to create a more empowered district unit. The accountability, responsibility, and the political strength we have thus given to the district presidents is set to be enhanced.”
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot said that as part of its organisational revamp, the party intends to create more empowered district units with their presidents having enhanced accountability, responsibility, and political strength. “The year 2025 is the year of the organisation to strengthen our workers, expand our party ideology, and to make sure that the Congress reaches out in a mass contact programme,” he said.
