Gandhinagar: The number of eligible voters in the state increased by 3,95,819, said the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) on Monday.
The CEO office attributed it to the two rounds of upgradation of electoral rolls between Aug and Nov 2024. As of Jan 1, 2025, there was an increase of 1,72,776 males, 2,23,023 females and 20 third-gender voters in the electoral rolls, a statement by the office of the CEO said.
The statement said that a house-to-house survey was conducted from Aug 20 to Nov 18, 2024, under the special summary revision programme. Subsequently, applications for corrections, deletions and additions to the voter list were invited from Oct 29 to Nov 28, 2024. The final voter list was published on Jan 6, 2025, recording 5.03 crore voters, including 2.58 crore males, 2.44 crore females, and 1,569 third-gender individuals.
The office of the CEO said that eligible citizens can apply online to add, correct or delete their names in the voter list using the Election Commission of India’s Voter Helpline app and website. They can also verify their names in the electoral rolls. Additionally, applications can be submitted by people at the respective collectorates.
The voter identity cards of the newly added voters will be delivered to their addresses by post, the statement added.
