‘Zombie’ meat comes alive and crawls out of the plate. Old video goes viral

Diners at a restaurant were shocked to see a piece of raw meat crawl out of the plate. An old viral video shows the meat dashing out of the plate with people in the background screaming at witnessing the scary scene. The footage was posted to Facebook by Florida woman Rie Phillips.

The horrifying video of the “zombie” meat has sent shivers down the spine of people on the internet since it shows the dead coming back to life. That is why the piece of meat is being termed “zombie” meat.

So what exactly happened? Did the dead really come back to life? Was something paranormal going on at the restaurant? Or does it have a scientific explanation?

If you were to witness something similar where your food jumps out of the plate by itself, you would certainly be spooked. It all looks scary and a scene out of the zombie shows and movies where the dead rise again.

But in this case, the zombies don’t seem to be attacking us. In fact, there is a very reasonable explanation for it.

Apparently, adding salt to the piece of meat led it to crawl away. In the video, the piece of meat is likely fresh cut and adding salt to it makes it twitch. When you cook meat or any other food, salt is what starts the cooking process.

In the video, salt is making the muscles of the freshly cut piece of meat contract, and that is why it is flopping around.

Even though there is a viable explanation, certainly something like this is bound to cause a scare.

It is not clear which restaurant the video was shot at. However, people on social media say that it is likely a diner that deals with something called ‘ikizukuri’.

In this method, sashimi is prepared using live seafood. Fish such as tuna, mackerel, and salmon are most commonly used in this method of cooking. However, octopus, shrimp and lobster are often other alternatives used.
