Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast for Feb indicated above-normal minimum and maximum temperatures for the Gujarat region. It also predicted rainfall in some areas.
“Below-normal rainfall is likely over most parts of the country except some parts of West Central India and South Peninsular India and some regions of North West India,” mentioned the forecast.
The forecast indicated that the monthly minimum temperature will be above normal over most parts of the country except some regions of Northwest India and south peninsular India. “Below normal cold wave days are likely over plains of Northwest India,” mentioned the IMD forecast.
A map in the report indicated chances of rainfall in parts of Saurashtra and the eastern belt in Feb. Likewise, the minimum temperature is likely to be above normal across the region, whereas some regions of the eastern belt are likely to experience normal to below-normal maximum temperatures.
The forecast indicated that compared to normal, the north Gujarat region may experience at least one less cold wave this season. TOI recently reported that the Gujarat region did not report any cold wave this winter and only a few cold days as minimum temperatures consistently remained higher than normal.
Component II: Min temp likely to be 14°C today
Ahmedabad: The minimum temperature on Friday in the city was 14.7 degrees celsius, which was 1.3 degrees higher than normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the minimum temperature was likely to be around 14 degrees on Saturday. The maximum temperature at 30.8 degrees on Friday was 1.5 degrees higher than normal.
With northwesterly winds prevailing over the region, there will be no major change in minimum temperatures during the next five days, the forecast mentioned. At 9.4 degrees, Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature, whereas at 31 degrees, Mahuva in Bhavnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature on Friday.
