Ahmedabad: A 29-year-old resident of Sola filed a police complaint after he and his relatives were allegedly assaulted and his car vandalised in a road rage incident late on Tuesday night in the city’s Kaligam locality. Mayank Joshi, a relationship manager at an insurance company in Panchvati area, stated in his complaint that he left home around 11pm on Tuesday with his wife, son, nephew, and a relative’s son in his private car to dine at a hotel near Subhash Bridge. While returning through Kaligam, an SUV approached from the opposite side near a railway crossing.Joshi claimed he gave way to the oncoming vehicle, but it took a sudden U-turn and began following his car. Near Chharanagar crossroads, the SUV overtook his car and blocked its path. The driver exited and questioned Joshi’s driving. Joshi apologised, but three other men from the SUV got out and allegedly began throwing stones at his vehicle.When Joshi’s nephew Harsh tried to call police and record a video, one of the assailants allegedly hit him on the face and snatched his mobile phone. The attackers broke the front, rear and three side windows of Joshi’s car with stones. Joshi suffered injuries to his head, ribs, cheek, and near his left eye. Harsh had injuries to his head and face, while Kartik Vyas, the son of Joshi’s relative, suffered abrasions on his hand. Joshi’s wife and child were unharmed. The attackers fled as local gathered hearing the family’s screams for help. According to the complaint, the accused are estimated to be 20-25 years old. Joshi and Harsh were taken by ambulance to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment.Sabarmati police registered a complaint of assault against four unknown men and began an investigation. tnn
