Ahmedabad: A woman from Thaltej on Thursday filed a complaint with Vastrapur police, accusing her husband of fraudulently obtaining a Rs 25 lakh loan by forging her signature on property documents. The woman, an HR professional at a college in the city, has sought legal action against her husband and others involved.
According to the complainant, she has been living in Vastrapur with her two children for the past 18 years, while her husband has lived separately for the last three years.
The couple jointly purchased their home in 2007 by availing a bank loan.
On April 19, 2021, bank officials from a private bank visited her house, informing her that a Rs 25 lakh mortgage loan taken in 2019 and was overdue. She denied taking any such loan. Upon inquiry, she discovered that her husband had taken the loan without her knowledge by allegedly forging her signature.
The FIR states that although she confronted him, she was not provided with any loan-related documents. She later learned that he had also pawned her gold jewellery for another loan. Legal notices were sent to both her husband and the bank, but no resolution was reached.
She also alleged that a bank agent played a role in passing the forged documents. The loan was secured through a private bank by submitting falsified paperwork to the sub-registrar’s office in Bopal, the FIR states.
After an earlier police complaint, her husband promised to repay the loan and return her jewellery, leading her to withdraw the case. However, on Aug 28, 2024, she found a bank possession notice on her house, stating that the bank would seize the property.
She has now demanded a thorough police investigation against her husband.
