Three from Mumbai defraud city’s luxury car dealer of Rs 4cr | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: A luxury car dealer from the Thaltej area in the city filed a complaint at Bodakdev police station on Sunday, accusing a Mumbai resident and his two sons of defrauding him of Rs 4 crore.
The 54-year-old car dealer, who spent over two decades in the automobile trade, stated that about 18 months ago, he was introduced to a BMW showroom manager from Mumbai. The manager introduced him to one of the accused, who offered three premium vehicles for sale — a Range Rover Vogue, a Land Rover Defender, and a BMW 7 Series.
The FIR states that after document verification, the car dealer agreed to purchase the vehicles for Rs 3.97 crore and transferred the amount via RTGS from his Punjab & Sind Bank account to the ICICI Bank account of the accused in Lower Parel branch in Mumbai.
In Aug 2023, formal agreements were executed between the car dealer and the accused, his brother, and their father, who promised to clear existing bank loans on the cars within three months and provide necessary NOCs (no objection certificates).
The accused further convinced the car dealer to purchase a Mercedes-Benz GLE-53 AMG for Rs 95 lakh, for which he made an additional payment. However, the accused failed to deliver any of the vehicles or provide the promised NOCs despite repeated commitments.
Upon realising that he was duped, the car dealer initially submitted a complaint which was officially converted into an FIR, charging the accused trio for breach of trust, cheating, and abetment under the BNS Act.
